Ruby Tuesday

It's another Ruby Tuesday, and this weeks post has been fun for me! Just yesterday morning, as I was getting ready to go to town and meet Eileen for coffee and a snack and some shopping, I only had two pictures in mind for todays post. But as I walked into Mc'D's, there was Eileen, in all her red glory! LOL.

"Oh, you're wearing red this morning! Woo Hoo! Let me go and get my camera from the car," I said, jumping up and running out to get it.

"But I don't want my picture taken," Eileen protested.

"Don't you want to be famous on the Internet?"

"Oh, alright," she said, "But you will owe me for this!"

Just then, in walked our friend Pat. She was wearing red as well! This was my lucky morning.

"Oh, can I take your picture?" I asked her.

"She'll make you famous on the Internet," Eileen told her. And Pat, being a good sport, agreed, and I was all set for another Ruby Tuesday. Aren't my friends nice to put up with me?

Here are the pictures. I hope you enjoy them.

This is my 11 year old granddaughter Hannah, posing with all the ribbons she won at a recent horse show. Isn't she cute? And please note that one of those ribbons is blue!

Here is Eileen, in her red shirt, toasting the picture taker! (Or maybe contemplating throwing the cup of coffee at her!)

And this is Pat. Her red shirt isn't quite as a showy red as Eileen's, but it is still nice for a ruby picture, don't you agree?

And Cody, the dog, wanted to get into the action as well. Here he is showing off his red sweater, smiling for the camera. Woof!

Happy Ruby Tuesday!

Ruby Tuesday!

It's Ruby Tuesday again and I have taken several pictures this past few days sporting the beautiful color red. I hope you enjoy them.

This is one of my beautiful red Hibiscus blossoms, which I have spotlighted, and like the effect. Isn't it pretty?

There is a nice, home style restaurant in town that we frequent once a week. Outside the restaurant are six huge containers of impatiens. This one had the most red impatiens, so I took a picture of it. Impatiens are always lovely, and they bloom from spring until late fall, and they can't be beat in a shady spot in the garden, or in containers.

After I snapped the picture of the impatiens, Eileen and I went into the restaurant and were seated at our favorite table by a window. And lo and behold, what did I see right at the next table? Something bright red, just waiting for me to take a picture of! How lucky can one get?

See the two old geezers seated at this table? They are frequent visitors to the same restaurant as well. And they usually get their jollies by teasing and flirting with us. Of course, Eileen and I oblige them by flirting back. We get our amusements where we can! Tee Hee!

So the other day, when one of them was wearing a bright red T-shirt, I
grabbed my camera and hopped on over there, much to Eileen's dismay.

I told the geezers that if they let me take their picture, I would make them famous on the Internet. Ha ha ha. They agreed, although they are not into computers and have no idea what the Internet is. But that red shirt looks perfect for a Ruby Tuesday shot, don't you think? Ha! And my geezer friends were extremely nice to cooperate. Thanks, guys. :-)

Happy Ruby Tuesday!

PS. Just so no one thinks I am being disrespectful by calling our friends "geezers," it's all done in fun, and the "geezers" sometimes refer to us gals as "old biddies." So all is fair in friendly name calling. :-)

Memorial Day Weekend!

My pink rosebush is loaded with beautiful flowers and buds, signifying the start of warmer weather. And Memorial Day Weekend signifies the start of the summer season, although summer is officially a few weeks away.

Anyone travelling this Memorial Day weekend? Or are higher gas prices keeping you closer to home? This area just rose to $3.69 a gallon! And that's low compared to some other areas of the country, especially larger cities.

We will travel all of 15 miles to the cabin on the river, for a little cookout. The river still looks too high from the recent floods, so I don't know how many boats will venture out on it. But folks will be out there grilling, picnicking, and enjoying the nice weather the forecast has promised for our are for Saturday and Sunday. Monday itself might be rainy.

As we are all enjoying the Memorial Day weekend with friends and family, we will keep in mind that Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service.

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.
-Moina Michael

Have an enjoyable and safe Memorial Day weekend, everyone!

A New Award, a Link of Love, and More!

I'm thankful today for this lovely Blessings Award passed on to me by my dear friend Merle over at at 3rd Time Lucky. Thank you very much, dear Merle. It's beautiful, and it reminds me to be thankful for all my blessings: Family, dear friends, my loving and cute pets , all the beauty of God's nature sorrounding me here, and so much more! And I am suppossed to pass this award on to three blogging friends who have been a blessing to me. That is hard, because all my blogging friends have been a blessing, and I would like to pass it on to everyone. But since the rules say I must pick three, here are the three I have chosen:

My old friend Tina at Tina's Odds and Ends. Tina and I have been friends for 9 years, more or less, and when we wrote for Suite 101, she was always a faithful visitor and commentor on my topic, and I never missed visiting her topic. I hope you enjoy this award, Tina!

I also want my lovely, young blogging friend Pia to have this award. I love to read Pia's blog. She has strong faith, uplifting messages, and is a blessing to her visitors. I hope you enjoy the award, Pia!

And the third friend I have chosen to give this award to today is Patti over at Nonna's News. I enjoy Patti's blog. Her love of family, and everyday doings is fun and inspiring. I hope you enjoy this award, Patti!

Finally, I also want to thank my friend Michele over at Writing the Cyber Highway for the "link of love!" How nice was that? Thank you, Michele. Whenever I need inspiration, or a little nudge in the writing department, which is often these days, I pop over to Writing the Cyber Highway. Michele, and all the young, enthusiastic writers that congregate there, never fail to inspire me, and get me off my duff! Thank you, Michele!

I also heard from Susan Reynolds, my editor at Adams Media for, My Teacher is My Hero, book. She said the book would be published in April/May, and we'll be getting our copies and checks at that time. WooHoo!

And, John Cali emailed me that the Dog Stories book has now been published and will be on its way to the contributing writers soon. Another WooHoo! Writers get excited about seeing their work published. And bloggers, like myself, get excited about receiving beautiful awards from blogging friends.

Well, I sure hope spell check works, because I have to get this published, and then scoot to feed the animals. Have a great evening, and week everyone!

Que Serra, Serra

I missed an anthology deadline the other day. I had forgotten all about it, until a young writer friend reminded me of it today. Yikes! So what did I do? I wrote a story for it anyway, and sent it off three days late. If it gets rejected for being late, well, at least I tried, and maybe learned a valuable lesson. And if I get lucky, and it gets accepted, I will be thankful.

I was surprised how well the story flowed, and I didn't have too much trouble with it, even though there was the stress of getting it done quickly. Two hours later, The Well Fertilized Baby, was finished, and on it's way through the email. Whatever happens now, happens. Que Serra, Serra!

A Good Day

It was a good day today. Eating out, chatting with friends, browsing around in the stores, was fun. Ran into Garnet, who is walking now with the aid of a crutch, after a nasty fall last week. She is fortunate that she didn't break anything, or that hitting her head on some stone steps didn't do any great damage. At 87, she is a tough old bird, God bless her.

It was a beautiful day today. Sunny and warm, but not extremely hot, as it has been for a month now. Still dry though, but one of these days, the rains will arrive to refresh the parched earth around here.

The deer show up earlier and earlier. This morning they were out there at dawn, looking towards the house; looking for me! didn't let them down!

In the morning, it's back to working on Grist for the Mill. I write fiction so rarely, but when I do, I lose myself in the story. When I finish Grist for the Mill, I will go back to The Purple Castle, which is now sitting in my documents, half done. I'm looking forward to going back to a story about a strange dream, and how it eventually comes true. But enough of that for now. Grist for the Mill is waiting, the heroin, Liz, wants to solve the mystery of the manuscript she found!

Time to put my mind into a sleep mode, so I can go back to Liz refreshed, in the morning.

It was a very good day today!
