Dear Renie ~~ Nice picture. Thank you for your comments and I am glad you liked GOD'S BOXES. It was a nice one. One of my blogging friends,Jim tells me that young Oak trees produce acorns from about 8 to 10 years
so I guess that one was wrong. Take
great care my friend, Love, Merle.

Yeah! Facebook is a very interactive online network. We've virtual pets. We can exchange virtual gifts, flowers, chocolates etc. We can email each other too. We can greet each other via poking on our wall, drawing on our page... The fun is endless. We decide on the frequency of interaction ourselves.

Would you like to join us?

Renie,

A beautiful shot of the woodpecker. I love most species of birds. I dislike starlings though because they stick so close to the house and poop everywhere. LOL

Blessings,
Mary

this reminds me of the wood pecker who use to attack the dead tree out the window of my childhood home.

it was a old dead elm tree full of years of wood pecker holes.and the sound of the wood pecker tapping away would eco off the house and sound like a air hammer chissle.seems he would come early in the morning and drive me nuts while I was sleeping.

you sure couldnt sleep so Id get up.one day I ran down in my nighty and pitched my shoe at him.no it didnt work he was back the next day.

love leann

Dear Audrey,

I will check out Facebook soon. And you have a surprise for me? How nice. I'll be over to see what it is, shortly. You're so sweet!

Thank you, Stacey! And he was drumming indeed, when I took his picture. That old dead oak is his favorite drum! :-)

Mary,

I love birds as well. We don't get many starlings around here. I don't know why that is.

Thank you for coming by and the nice comment. I always enjoy hearing from you.

Hugs,

Renie

Renie Burghardt said...

Hi Leann,

That's a cute story about the woodpecker. The drumming can be quite loud, and if one is awakened by it, it can be annoying. This guy was high up in that dead oak in the field, and I didn't think I could even get a picture of him. I was glad that I managed one though.

Thank you for coming by, dear Leann. Have a nice evening!

Hugs,

Renie

Great photo, Renie! I always did love Woody Woodpecker. :-) It was one of my favorite cartoons.

Of course, for me, nothing compares to listening to the sweet song of the whippoorwill on a peaceful summer's night....

Smiles,
Michele

You may be wordless, but I'll bet that Red-bellied had a lot to say as he tatooed that tree!

We had a yellow-bellied sapsucker this winter...first ever. The woodpeckers are so neat!

Renie Burghardt said...

Hi Michele,

I love the whipporwill as well! Have not heard it yet, this spring. Should be arriving in our area soon.

Thank you for coming by, and your always nice comments.

Fondly,

Renie

Renie Burghardt said...

Hi Sue,

Nice to see you again! Yes, that woodpecker loves to drum, and I enjoy hearing him.

Yellow bellied sapsuckers are around here as well. All the woodpeckers are "cool" birds, for sure.

Thank you for your comment. Have a great day.

Hello Renie. Thank you for the sweet comment you left on my blog. Yes I am so thankful for dear little Ethan's health. Praise God!

Your picture is a red headed woodpecker I think. At least that's what we call them here.

I have never gotten a picture of one. They seem shy and fly away as soon as they see me.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs!

Hello Renie, Thank You for visiting and yur nice comments. I like your woodpecker picture, I have one quite like it. There is part of an old pine tree outside our bedroom window which lures a variety of birds. I grow morning glories on it, told my hubby I don't want to cut it down. Thank You for that wonderful quote, I copied it. Best to you, Barbara

Dear Renie ~~ Many thanks for your visit and comments. Glad to hear how nice your weather has been and that you have been able to work on your garden. The Irises must be lovely - any chance of a photo? Glad you liked the story about the teacher making lists with her students that proved to be so treasured. I hope the coming weekend has more glorious weather for you, it's been the same here. Take care my friend, Love, Merle.

Hi Ann,

No, he didn't wake me. I'm up at the crack of dawn, usually. It was a cloudy day, and I heard and saw him up there. He was about 50 feet up, so wasn't sure I could even get a picture of him. I was happy I did. It is like a silhuete, because of the dark day and his being high up. But I like the picture.

Thanks so much for coming by.
Have a good weekend. It's raining in my corner of the planet today, but at least it's not a deluge.

Renie Burghardt said...

Hi Bev,

Yes, I believe he was a red headed woodpecker. It's not clear in the picture because he was too high up and the day was very overcast.

Thank you for coming by, and commenting. I enjoyed the pictures from little Ethan's first birthday.

Blessings.

Hi Barbara,

Great idea to grow morning glories on the old pine. I may try it with this oak.

You are welcome to the quote. It's one of my favorites, and great advice to follow.

Thank you for visitng. I hope spring has sprung in your neck of the woods.

Hugs,

Renie

Dear Merle,

It's always good to see your smiling face here! I may just take a picture of the Irises. The dogwoods are starting to bloom now as well, and they turn this area into a dogwood heaven!

Our weather has been really nice, but today it is raining! But that's okay, too. I have a small vegetable garden all planted, with lettuce, which is about ready to eat, 6 tomato plants, some zucchini, and a few cucumbers. That's as much as I can manage these days.

Have a wonderful weekend, dear Merle. Hope your beautiful weather is holding out.

Love,

Renie

Tina,

Where have you been hiding? Good to see you again, my friend. I'm glad you like my woodpecker picture. And isn't the little butterfly cute, fluttering about on my header? Not too much work to put him up there, either, which is why I chose him. LOL.

Thank you for coming by. I missed you!

Spring Hugs,

Renie

PS. Has spring finally sprung in New Hampshire? I hope so.

Renie Burghardt said...

Hi Bonnie,

Nice to hear from you as well! And yes, I had a wonderful Rottie friend. A most faithful friend he was, too, and I miss him so much. He was buried here, at the edge of the woods, and whenever I'm outdoors and walk by where he rests, I tell him how much I miss him. Ah, well, here I go, getting teary eyed again.

Thank you for your nice comments, Bonnie. Take care, and God bless!

oh btw, if it's not too much to ask, is it ok to request that you also add my new blog to your list? if not, that's perfectly fine.

Hi Renie,

Just a whole bunch of stuff going on for the last two weeks. Nothing earth-shattering, just time consuming. It would be nice if the hectic stuff would space itself out a bit instead of happening all at once. LOL

Spring has finally arrived and I couldn't be happier! There is very little snow left. Just a few little piles in the woods. As of yesterday, the baseball field was finally 100% snow free. Folks were over there this morning sprucing it up so the kids can play. They sure are getting a late start on the season. I imagine they are eager to "play ball"!

I've been having a great time getting caught up here. I missed you, too! :-)

Spring hugs,
Tina

Renie, I feel so lazy this week - last week was so busy and dreary, now that it is warm, all I want to do is look at the blooms and marvel at the sun!

I'm glad spring is finally deciding to stay around. I know the kids are looking forward to playing ball!

Deborah,

Maybe the woodpecker pecking on your house flew over to the Ozarks, to try drumming here. LOL.

I feel the same way. I wander around looking at the dogwoods in bloom, listen to the birds sing, etc. Maybe it's spring fever, eh? LOL.

Thanks for coming by. Have a good weekend.

Renie,

This is a beautiful photo. I love birds of every species. We had a woodpecker that woke us every morning last year. Alas, the tree he loved to find bugs in was cut by the city because it had a hollow trunk. I hope he takes up residence nearby again this summer. I enjoyed watching him.

Blessings,
Mary
