No Snow In My Neighborhood!

The weather predictions for Saturday were ominous, with freezing rain and snow in the forecast. Well, we had torrential rains all day, but by the time the temperatures dropped to freezing, late at night, most of the moisture was gone. Oh, we did get a dusting of snow, but that melted as soon as the sun came out this morning. So, no snow in my neighborhood, to take beautiful pictures of. (Thank goodness!) But it was a beautiful, sunny day, and I decided to take some pictures anyway.

The small pond is at the northern edge of the field. It isn't a fancy pond, it is a wildlife pond. Behind the pond are the woods. The pond, field and woods are a nice habitat for the wildlife that live around here. And the birds always find water to drink or bathe in.

The field is east of the house, and it is where the deer and wild turkeys like to congregate. Behind the field are some more woods.

The grass is brown nowadays, and some of the oaks which hang on to their leaves until spring, are somewhat drab, but I like my snow-less landscape. It has its own "rustic" charm.

Of course, it never fails. Whenever I'm outside, the deer appear. Here is a doe and her teen aged fawn, posing for me nicely.

And here comes another doe with her twin fawns. The fawns will hang out with "mom" even after she has new "kids," next spring, and even after they give birth to their own young. The bucks stay with "mom" for about a year, after that they join the "boys," who usually hang out together in the woods.

I hope you enjoyed my "snow-less" pictures.

Good Evening Renie,
AWWWW, we didn't get any snow either. I wanted some, if only a dusting would have done. But no, all we got was a very cold rain. We had to travel out in it yesterday and I didn't like it. It got foggy late yesterday afternoon on our way home. It wasn't so foggy that you couldn't see in front of you, but it was still very foggy. I love your homeplace there. It all looks so serene. I love the looking at the deer as well. I can't believe they let you get that close to take pictures. They must know you pretty good huh? LOL. We had Sunshine today and it was still very cold. I didn't do any posting this weekend because of being so busy. I'm hoping to get back in the groove tomorrow. Well, take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Hi Renie ~~ Great photos and the
deer have been there before I think.
Glad you don't have snow yet, though
it is cold and blustery. Thanks for
your comments and I am glad you enjoyed it the post. I hope you manage to keep warm, my friend. Take
care, Love, Merle.

Hi Merle,

Yes, the deer come around all the time. I'm glad we didn't get snow as well, although snow would make evrything more beautiful. But it also makes things more difficult. At my age, I would rather not have to deal with it. But we'll get some at some point, this winter.

Thank you for visiting and your always kind comments.

I look forward to Christmas though, as I'm sure you do. Have a blessed Tuesday!

Love,

Renie

Renie,

Great photos - I'm getting jealous because the deer around my area won't come anywhere near my house so that I can get a good pic! lol

Is that the same pond that iced over and your cat fell into??

If it would only snow here! So much fun..These southern boys like to go to the Grocery Store parking lot and do donuts.

Renie Burghardt said...

Hi Deborah,

The deer around here are always here! I know it's hard to believe, but they watch for me to come out, and appear when I do. This has been going on fir 6 years now.

Yes, that's the same pond Orie fell into a couple of years ago. I don't like to remember that nightmare!

I heard on the news that Georgia was quite warm, so those southern boys have to contend with snow-less donuts, I guess. Lol.

I used to love snow, but not anymore. I slipped and fell in the snow, 2 years ago, when I broke my hip! Besides, it just makes life so hard, for someone my age. But it is beautiful around here, when it snows.

Thanks so much for coming by and commenting. I just read your Christmas blog, and it was just wonderful.

It has been pretty cold here too but no snow lately. I can certainly do without.
I know the kids love to play in it but I have had my fill already and to think that winter isn't officially here yet!
Keep warm and have another cup of tea!

Hi Bev,

I'm with you, on the snow! And a nice, hot cup of tea sounds good.

Thank you kindly for coming by. I hope all is well with you.

Good Evening Renie,
Thanks for stopping by. I always enjoy your visits. Yes it was a Sunshiny day here as well and on the chilly side. I think at one time this afternoon, my computer said 47 degrees. Almost a heatwave. LOL. We just finished supper a bit ago. I made Taco's. We had softshell and hardshell Taco's. I like the softshell Taco's better. Well, take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You. Stay warm.

Karen,

It's always nice to see you here. Thank you kindly for the return visit. I think the weather forecast says we'll see 50s for the next couple of days. Yay! Got a Christmas shindig to go to Thursday and then again Saturday, so I'm glad the weather will be fairly nice. Although more rain in the forecast!

Have a lovely evening with your family.

Snow is beautiful, but messy! I would love for it to snow here for Christmas, but my part of Texas doesnt get snow often. Let me know how you like the sausage balls. We love them! They are great for breakfast too, with syrup or just plain with a cup of coffee.

Renie Burghardt said...

Hi Nonna,

Yes, I will make a double batch of the sausage balls for our Christmas Bingo at my church. I'm sure they will be delicious. I'm also taking some cookies I baked.

I thought you were in California!

Yes, snow makes everything beautiful, but somewhat difficult, so I don't mind being snow-less!

Thank you for stopping by.

Blessings,

Renie

I just heard rain is back in the forecast again for Thursday and Saturday. It felt nice outside yesterday with the Sun shining. The wind wasn't blowing so that helped alot too. Well, take care my friend and have a great Tuesday. May God Bless You and Yours.

I would love to live near a place where we could photograph deer. The largest animal we've ever had in our backyard is the raccoon, a whole family, this past Spring, mother and four babies. Thank goodness they moved on, one neighbor was complaining to us about us feeding them, we didn't really feed them it was the bird seed we put out for the birds, but I must confess, I did add some dry dog food to attract them. Since they were getting bigger and this one neighbor behind us was complaining so much, we were afraid they would call a pest control group and if they had to come out and get them, they don't relocate them, they kill them. So Abe and I packed up and left for a short vacation, since no more seed was being put out for the birds and it was hot outside and the water dishes we keep filled for the birds went dry, apparently she moved them on. We were very happy about that. What worried us was the fact the mother seemed very tame and would come out in the daytime and eat. Abe got a lot of nice photos of her and her babies.
Have a good day and keep warm, it's up to 31 here at 11:30am, and the snow is still sticking around up here.

Renie,

How lucky you are to live in an area where the deer come out to meet you when you venture out of the house. You've been truly blessed at your location. I'm always amazed at the beauty that surrounds you.

Take care and thanks so much for sharing the photos. I'm glad you are safe and warm.

Hi Patty,

Nice to see you again! Well, in suburban and town areas, they try to discourage raccoons, as they can become pets, and also carry rabies. I love the raccoons and have a bunch of them around here. But they do usually come around at night. I bet your husband took some nice pictures of them. And the little ones are adorable!

Thank you for coming by and commenting. I hope you're doing well and are ready for Christmas!

Blessings,

Renie

Mary,

I do consider myself lucky. I love living where I live, and all the animals are a real blessing in my life.

PS. For some reason my blog is missing a bunch of things off the page. I don't know why. Hopefully, the page will reappear, soon. Please, Mr. Blogger, bring back my entire page! :-)

Hi Tina,

So nice to see you again! Thank you for the kind comment on my photos. The deer are easy to take pictures of. They seem to like to pose for me. :-)

Hope you're ready for Christmas. I know I'm ready.

They say rain is moving in late tonight but the bulk of it will be tomorrow. I have Tagged you for a Christmas Hoopla. When you have time, stop by and check it out. I hope you can do it. Hi Karen,

We are having heavy, dense fog this morning, but the sun just came out. Rain tomorrow, I think, but mild, with 60 degrees even. That's nice for this time of the year.

Got to leave here soon, so I have no time now. Will post the beautiful award you gave me later. I'll see about the Christmas Hoopla. Have a great day, my friend.

Blessings and Hugs,
