A Parting Gift from January--Pretty Snow!

It's about time to update my blog. Hmmm, lets see, what shall I blog about? Why, the weather, of course! It seems that's about all I blog about lately. But January is leaving us with a parting gift--4 inches of very pretty snow, and I can't fail to mention that!

I took this picture of the pond from the window of my little sunroom. I was hoping the cardinal sitting on the branch on the left, would show up better, but you can barely make him out. I should have zoomed in on him, for he added that lovely touch of color the photo needed.

This shot of my gravel road, is to the south. I had a photo of it in the fall, which was to the north, where the hill is much steeper. It looks pretty with snow on it. No doubt about it, snow makes everything more beautiful, but I would rather do without it. And the forecast is calling for a few more inches overnight. We'll see in the morning.

I enjoyed being out in the snow today. Then I actually did some writing as well, and a great deal of talking on the phone with friends who all wanted to discuss our snowy weather!

The forecast is for warmer weather moving in by Sunday, so the pretty snow will be all gone. Short and sweet. Just the way I like a snowfall to be.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Good Evening Ms. Renie,
I so need a shoulder to cry on. Can I cry on your shoulder? Boo-hoo, Boo-hoo!!!! "THANK YOU" for letting me cry on your shoulder. I am so jealous of your pictures. They are just so beautiful. I can see the Cardinal on the tree branch. "THANK YOU, THANK YOU" so much for sharing your Snow pictures with me, oops, I mean with us. LOL. We did get a few flakes this morning around 11:15a.m. It was mixed in with some Sleet and rain. We have had mostly rain all day. They did, but for the life of me I don't know why, let School out here at 11:30a.m. That is when it was snowing some wet snow. If anything stuck, it was the sleet, but it soon melted away as the rain fell again. I am just so disappointed. They have taken us out of the Winter Storm Warning now and placed us under a Winter Weather Advisory. I don't even know why they did that either. Okay, I'll stop my complaining now. LOL. "THANK YOU" again so much for sharing your Snow pictures with us. I just love them. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours. If you get out in the morning to feed the birds, be very careful.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

What a great picture!
The cardinal, the snow on the tree
closest to you and the pond. You have a great eye, and that camera amazes me sometimes! Glad you are finally using it.
I am going to scold you for taking photo's of the road though. You'd better stop putzing around in the snow and stay inside and blog until it melts. Be CAREFUL!

Karen, Hi!

Oh, my goodness, I'm surprised to see you this evening. Aww, I wish I could send some snow your way. You think if I made a big snowball and threw it good and far, it would get to your house? LOL. Of course, I wouldn't want to break a window or something, so I'd better not. LOL. Well, maybe next time, Karen. It can still snow in February, you know. We're still under a winter weather advisory here as well, for tonight.

Thank you so much for stopping by to look at my snow pictures. You're a nice friend!

Love and Hugs,

Renie,

That little red cardinal is a beauty, huh? Especially against the snow. I have them all over my back yard, it's hard to get a good pic of them, and the hummingbirds too.

This weather sure is dreary! Winter time does that to people. But, in about 7 weeks it will start warming up real good, and then it will be time to plant tomatoes and scuppernongs (I'm ordering mine this weekend).

Have a good weekend and the snow pics are beautiful..:) I love the pond.

What beautiful photos. I love the snow like that. It blankets everything, and here, even the barns in the pastures look new, with the snow on them.. We have only gotten sleet, and not snow.We might get one snow before winter ends here. I truely hope so.. God bless you, Renie. Thanks for all your uplifting posts and comments..You are a blessing!

Hi Renie,
What beautiful pictures! I love the cardinal in the pond picture. Looks like the pond has some ice around the edges too. We don't get snows here in the hills of VA like we use to. I remember being out of school almost 2 months one time until it all melted!

There's something about a country road covered with snow and the woods on either side...reminds me of Robert Frost's "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening"...one of my favorite poems.

Thanks for sharing your snowy wonderland.

Hugs,
Hope

Good Morning Ms. Renie,
I'm just dropping in this morning for our coffee. Did you get any more Snow last night? We didn't get anything else at all. I sure do love looking at your beautiful Snow pictures. When I clicked on the picture that had the Cardinal on it, I could see another Cardinal to the left as well. So, there are 2 Cardinals on the tree branches. My DH and his Uncle had to pull over in Lincoln, IL this morning because they couldn't see the roads. He said it was still snowing there. He said they will have to wait till daylight and see how the roads are then. I sure hope they are ablt to make it home today. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours. "THANK YOU" again for the coffee.

Hi Deborah,

The older I get the more I dislike winter! So I can't wait for the milder weather.

I love my little pond. I can see it from where I sit at my laptop. There is a Great Blue Heron that visits it, too, but he is very shy. As soon as he sees me, he flies off. I wish I could take his picture! Maybe one day, I will succeed.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a great weekend as well.

Hi Stephanie,

Yes, the snow blanket transforms everything. I love the way it does, too, but I'm not a big fan of snow, or winter, for that matter. When I was younger, I loved the snow, but it just makes life harder now.

Maya is a sweetie. She is a Tonkenese kitty. Very mild mannered, and good natured. Not a trouble maker like Oreo! LOL.

Thank you for stopping by and the sweet comment, my dear. Have a blessed weekend!

Hi Hope,

I love Robert Frosts poem as well, and was thinking of posting it here with the photo, but then didn't.

The pond does have a little ice around the edges. I'm glad you noticed it. And the cardinal makes a nice addition, although I wish we could see it a little better.

Thank you for stopping by and the nice comment. Have a blessed weekend.

Good morning, Karen,

We only got a dusting that refreshed the four inches nicely. But we didn't get very much more, thank goodness. Forecast says the sun will come out later today, but it sure doesn't look like it now. And it's cold out there!

I will pray that your DH and Uncle make it home today safely. I know how much you're looking forward to seeing your DH. Have a blessed weekend with your loved ones.

Good afternoon Renie,
Thank goodness we didn't get what the weatherman said was coming last night. Some areas about 20 miles north of us had a lot more ice then we had. But the snow never really arrived. It is snowing at the moment, just lightly. Looks like someone sprinkled a little powdered sugar around. Have a wonderful week-end. I'm with you, I'm ready for Spring. Easter comes early this year, it's in March.

Thanks for visiting my blog,

Greg and I just got home. And the gravel road looks pretty clear now, so I won't have to worry getting out on Sunday. Snow should all be gone by tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you for coming by. I always enjoy hearing from you.

Have a blessed weekend!

Hi Patty,

I'm glad you didn't get the ice. That's much worse than snow, for sure. We are warming up over the weekend, thank goodness.

Yes, Easter is the last Sunday in March this year, so, early. Our weather is usually nice by then. I'm very much looking forward to spring as well.

Thank you for coming by. Have a wonderful weekend!

Renie,

I can see the cardinal there. Aren't they pretty with a backdrop of white, fluffy snow? Bluejays and cardinals are some of my favorite birds.

Your photos of the snow are lovely. We have much more here. It has been snowing since 3am and is to continue until around midnight. I'm not sure how much we have but will find out in a few minutes when I take Meeko out. We were to get around a foot or so. I wouldn't doubt we have at least that much.

Take care, my friend and keep cozy and warm. I'm curling up with a good book this weekend and not going far. The roads are terrible.

Blessings,
Mary

Just need to hang in until March. LOL

Enjoy the warmer weather! :-)

Good Morning Ms. Renie,
I hope I'm not too late for coffee this morning. I didn't post yesterday because we had a sick girl. Our youngest daughter came home from School on Friday and wasn't feeling too well. She started throwing up down at my Sister's and I had to go get her. She was feeling some better last night. Do yall still have some Snow up your way? My DH and his Uncle left out around 5:00a.m. this morning heading up thru your way going to Salt Lake City, UT. Hopefully the weather will co-operate with them this week and they can get home thru the week this week. Glad your Son came in and took you out to eat. I love to go out and eat myself. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,

Good Morning Miss Renie,
We have no new snow but fog and frost, kinda like an enchanted forest. You photo is great and if you click on it the bird shows just fine. I wish I had some cardinals they are so beautiful. I have a few blue jay, chicadees, sparrows, downy woodpeckers. There are a few more I have not identifyed yet. Maybe you can come up with some sort of blind so the heron can't see you. I am trying to plan many of my plantings for better photo ops.

Best to you, Stay warm, Barbara

Hi Karen,

How nice to see you on a Sunday! I just got home a short time ago. Cloudy but mild out there today in the low 50s, much warmer for tomorrow. Most of our snow is gone, Karen, except for a patch here and there, in the woods, where its shadier.

I'm sorry your daughter has been sick, but am glad to hear she is feeling somewhat better. I'm sure Mama Nurse is taking good care of her!

Hopefully your DH and Uncle will have better weather on the road this week.

I'm looking forward to almost 70 tomorrow! Woo Hoo, a nice taste of spring.

Have a blessed evening, Karen. Thank you for stopping over.

Hugs,

Hi Barbara,

I love the birds around here, there are hundreds of them, and they keep me busy because they are extra hungry in cold weather!

We had fog and sleet last week. The pretty snow from the other day is all gone. Hopefully, it will be our only snowfall this winter. Usually, by mid-February, we have mostly spring-like weather, but winter roars occasionally, to remind us it is not spring yet!

Thank you for visiting, Barbara. I hope you and the critters are all staying warm and cozy, and the weather will warm up soon!

Best wishes to you!

What a beautiful pond and I bet it is beautiful at every season. I could see the Cardinal quite well when I enlarged the picture. I wish we had them here. I think they are gorgeous.
We don't have snow, in fact I was out working in a flower garden yesterday as it was up to 40 degrees. However today it is windy and raining so I am staying in where it's cozy.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful photos.

Renie Burghardt said...

Hi Bev,

Good to see you again!

Yes, the pond is beautiful in every season. It isn't a fancy pond, just a wildlife pond. I leave it mostly natural, and all the birds and wildlife around here use it. I can see it as I sit here at my laptop. In the light of day, that is.

We had 74 degrees today, Bev. But for tonight, thunderstorms are in the forecast. I can't wait to play in the dirt, a bit. But I don't do as much gardening as I used to. For one thing, there are too many deer, and they like my garden! So I keep it to a minimum these days. And since I broke my hip, two years ago, I can not do as much stooping and bending as I used to.

Thank you for coming by, Bev. I always enjoy hearing from you.

Have a blessed evening and week.

Good Morning Ms. Renie,
I'm just dropping by to see how you are doing today. I hope you had a great weekend. This weather is crazy huh? Yesterday it got up to 72 degrees. Right now it's still 65 degrees. I turned my A/C on yesterday because it was too warm in the house for me. I didn't post yesterday and I'm not posting today either. I am down in the dumps about something and I just don't feel like posting. I did visit some last night tho. Our daughter is feeling better. I kept her home from School yesterday because when she first got up she wasn't up to par just yet. She is going back to School today tho. They say we may have some really bad severe weather later today. I sure hope not. I hope you have a storm cellar close to you. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.
