Some Places We've Been, And Things We've Seen.

My granddaughter Mckenzie and her dad left for home Saturday morning, after spending 6 days with me. We had a wonderful time visiting, eating, going places, and just being together. I thought I'd post a few of the many pictures I took. I hope you enjoy them.

As we were heading to Big Spring State Park in Van Buren, Missouri, I took this picture of the scenic view from the car window.

We decided to have lunch at the beautiful stone Lodge, in the park. Here is Mckenzie posing nicely at the entrance to the Lodge.

Big Spring State Park is a beautiful park. Unfortunately, after lunch, when we went to the spring itself, my camera gave me the message that my memory card was full! Ugh! But at least I have a few pictures, like this one of the Lodge itself.

The view from the window inside the Lodge, where we sat and enjoyed a delicious lunch, while we also enjoyed the view of the river below.

Our favorite place to hang out, besides at home, was our little cabin on the river. We spent most of our time there.

Our favorite vehicle to cruise the river on.

Heading down to the water for a swim. Let's go Nana!
Back in March, when we had the flood around here, the water came up right to the edge of deck, where Mckenzie is in the picture, but fortunately, never actually got to the cabin itself. The cabin does sit on a hill, about 50 feet from the river.

Swimming in the Current River is fun and especially nice when the temperatures are sizzling!

Hope you enjoyed the pictures. Thank you for reading. I am so behind on visiting, but will catch up with everyone this week. Have a wonderful week. Hope it's cooler where you are!

PS. I miss you, Mckenzie, but will see you in October! Maya misses you, too! xoxo

Did I enjoy your picture tour? Yes, it is always fun to hear what others are doing and where they went for fun and play.

Looks like a good time was had by all...

Have a nice week catching up and getting back to your normal routine.

Renie,
Wow! That looks like a place I may like to visit someday. Missouri does have some very pretty spots. The river looks really nice also. Cleaner looking than some. I have heard that it is a great river to have a float trip on, but I have never been on a float trip. Probably very pretty in the fall also, which is just around the corner.
Have a peaceful week!

What a wonderful cabin you have, Renie. Thanks for sharing all those lovely pictures.

I don't think there is anything more wonderful than having time to spend with our families.

Like you, I'm behind on visiting and posting. Hope to catch up today.

Guess you are experiencing empty house syndrome! It amazes me how much a house comes alive when children are there.

Your cabin is a wonderful place to get away. Just beautiful.

Thanks for sharing this special time with your son and granddaughter.

Renie, looks like you had a great time and I enjoyed the pics. Your MacKenzie is a doll. I LOVE that cabin!!! Do you go there often.

Sandy,

The cabin is 15 miles from the house, and yes, we spend a lot of time there during the summer, and fall. I also like to invite friends there for cookouts.

Brenda,

Big Spring is beautiful. Worth a visit. If my memory card had not been filled up, I would have taken a lot more pictures. We go there often in the spring, summer and fall, since it's only an hour's drive from here. That is where the Current River begins, and then flows through here, before joining the Black River, in Pocahontas, Arkansas. People from all over the country come here to take float trips. It's a popular tourist attraction. I haven't taken one in several years, but love to float on the river in the jetski. A little more comfortable than sitting in a big tube!

Thanks for visiting, friends.

Hugs,

Renie

Renie I enjoyed the photos so much. It reminded me of my times on the Quachita river, I was born in Sparkman Arkansas and my Grandpa was a fisherman.
Your granddaughter is sweet. I just spent three weeks with my daughter and her four children, one of which is my oldest granddaughter. I am so proud of her and the job my daughter is doing, she allows her to be artsy in her dress, and Madi does have a definite style. She is 11 and looks 15 or so. She is tall for her age so has never fit in with her age group. She is gorgeous, (not at all predjudice) and tells her friends how pretty they are when they comment on her looks and how they wish they looked like her. I know how wonderful it is to spend time with these angels.
My other two granddaughters came for a visit they are 3 and 5 monts respectively. The three year old is all feminine and lacy. She walked into my rose bath and oohed and aahed over it. She tells you Pink is her favorite color and she loves to have her photo made.
So thanks for the memories on your blog. Made me smile.

Dear Renie ~~ What lovely photos, the cabin and the surrounds are lovely. I am so glad you had a lovely visit with Joe and Mckenzie - but it's not all that long until October - not the way the time goes by. Thank you for your visit and I am glad you liked my bird feeder and solar fairy - I do too. Glad you liked Whispers and the Duct Tape and a Nail one. Always nice to have you visit, dear Renie. Take care, Love, Merle.
