Falling Leaves and Other Friday Things

Well, it has been a busy week, and time has sped by at rocket speed! Tuesday, my son Greg took me shopping in a bigger town at a Super Walmart. Going to a Super Walmart is a hide and seek kind of experience with Greg. I try and hide, while he tries to find me!

Usually, I like to browse the various departments, while Greg heads to where the guys things are. But he finds what he needs quickly and comes looking for me. Fifteen minutes later, he finds me hiding in cosmetics, checking out the wrinkle creams, and asks if I'm almost done?

"Not yet," I say, and he disappears for another fifteen minutes. We go through this for over an hour, when he finally tells me he'll be waiting in the car and I should ring his cell phone when I'm ready. LOL. I guess guys just don't enjoy shopping as much as gals do.

The weather has been mostly nice all week, except for a couple of good showers, which are bringing down the leaves.

Here is a picture of my front yard a week ago, with still a lot of color.

And here is my front yard now, with a carpet of leaves covering most of my driveway, except the top part near the gravel road. But there are still a lot of leaves left on the trees. Just think how much fun my family will be having at the end of the month, helping me mulch and rake!

Deer Season begins tomorrow, the 15th, and will end the 25th, right on my birthday. This guy better find a good hiding place soon!

Deer Season is not my favorite season of fall, and although my woods are posted as "off limits" to hunters, we stay out of there during the next ten days, just in case some hunter doesn't care about the rules of the game.

My daughter and family arrive the 23rd, and will be here until the 28th. I am so looking forward to having them with me.

A nice, mild day is in the forecast for today, and I will be heading to town in a couple of hours. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

Blessings from the woods!

Your front yard is gorgeous!! I just love fallen leaves on the ground! There are some that need to be swept off my front porch but I wont do it because I love the fall feeling they give!!LOL

Have a nice weekend Renie!!

I love every picture on your blog.

Yes, the deer on our land are in danger also. I hunt them but with my camera not a gun. I'm afraid we do accept venison from friends though.

It is funny that you wrote about your Wal-Mart shopping trip because I am planning a blog entry about mine. Ron and I go our separate ways also and reconnect by cell phone.

Oh Renie I'm so glad the deer are safe on your property. They can romp and play in your beautiful carpet of leaves.
My leaves are all gone but the neighbor has two beautiful red maples whose leaves float over here and I love it - they're such a gorgeous colour.

My husband bags the leaves with the lawn mower. He does a little raking in the back.

It's raining cats and dogs here today, and I have to get out in it. I'm taking my boxes to the church for pick up by Smaratians Purse. I always enjoy doing a shoe box for some child.

So guess I gotta' get moving...

Hi Renie,

We must all have the same experience when shopping at Wal-Mart. Only difference is my husband is the shopper, sometimes I stay in the car and read a book while he shops. If I plan to shop for something, that is when he is ready to leave in 15 minutes. What would we do without our cellphones? When one of us forgets our phone, we arrange to meet someplace when we are ready to leave.

I love the cute little deer, but I also like the venison cooked to perfection, oooooh so good! We no longer hunt, but when husband was younger and we had 7 mouths to feed, he did. We also had coats made out of the hides. We were a sight to see five of us in our little deer hide coats. Enough reminiscing ;)

Well Renie, get rested up for your next visit from the family. What a fun time you must have had.

Ann

Wonderful pictures, Renie. I had to laugh about your son and you in Wal-Mart. Jim and I now have an agreement. He brings a book, goes to the food court and gets a coffee and when I'm done, I find him. Works well for us.

Have a wonderful weekend.

It looks so beautiful and PEACEFUL!!!! Hope you get a chance to post more pictures. Have a great weekend!

Sounds like you had a nice shopping day. With Abe and me, it's usually the other way around, I get what I want and sand waiting for him. I dislike shopping. If I could it would all be done from a catalogue or over a computer.

Nice you'll have a few days with your daughter and her family. Have a wonderful week-end.

Renie,

The pictures of your yard is pretty - I like to let leaves fall heavy before I rake. My yard is looking almost like yours - that blower in the garage should really do some work:)

And is it Friday already?

Those are beautiful colors! Yes, that deer better find a hiding spot - and quick!

Glad to hear you're doing well, Renie.

Missing you!

Your gardens are lovely and I do hope bambi survives!

I laughed at your shopping trip experience. My husband hates shopping - unless it's for him! We rarely shop together as his feelings are - if you like it get it, don't bother looking anywhere else. Men!

I quite like shopping with my daughter. We always end up in a nice cafe for a latte and sometimes a naughty but nice cake.

Hi Renie. gosh you would have to be careful when the big bucks are in the rut. Aren't you so lucky have have such a wonderful place.
My Dae used to hunt deer but over here they are a serious pest.
We don't have Walmart here in New Zealand we have the Warehouse instead and yes I know what you mean by getting lost!

Question - Is that a White-tailed Deer?

I love your blog
All the best

I like how you describe your shopping with your son. I generally shop alone and can take all the time I want. However I am not a shopper, so tend to get whats on my list and get out. I hate long check out lines!

Your pictures are beautiful. The leaves are really pretty. Ours have mostly turned brown by now. We have had lots of rain and a few heavy frosts.
How nice that you will be having company soon. I'm sure you will have a wonderful time.

The yard is beautiful! I hate to think of someone shooting that pretty deer! My son hunts with his dad and my grandson is turning out to be a hunter, so I deal with it, but don't like it. I loved your Walmart story! Men do just want to get in & out of there!!

Hi Renie! Oh my! Your family is going to be real busy helping you raking and mulching! Make lots of large piles for playing in while you're at it!
Funny thing about WalMart...Cowboy loves to wander through...and it's ME telling him I'll be waiting in the car! (the stars must have misaligned themselves when I was created..I don't care to shop at all!)
I was wondering if I'd missed your birthday...knowing it's about the same time as mine..So happy your family will be there to help you celebrate it and Thanksgiving!
Hope you have had a wonderful weekend!

Dear Renie ~~ Your photos are beautiful -
especially the fall colors and the deer.
I am so glad that your daughter is going to visit you with her family. Have a lovely time with them. I am doing well and nothing too awful was found in my tests, thankfully. I am glad you liked the Pet Owner's list on her fridge.
Have a wonderful week, dear Renie.
Love, Merle.

Your Walmart shopping with your son sounds like fun!!

I still have lots of leaves to fall from the oak trees. They are beautiful aren't they!? Your pictures are great. The rain we had got rid of lots of leaves from the trees here as well. It's still quite nippy out there...at least to me with the wind making it feel colder.

It's deer season here and I certainly wouldn't want to be out hiking in the woods. Some people shoot at anything that moves, plus those high powered rifles carry so far.

Have a wonderful week!

Oh your yard is so pretty with all of those gorgeous leaves! Not so much fun to rake but sure nice to look at. I post my property too to try to keep the hunters away but I still hear gun shots occasionally which scares me to death. I don't dare walk out there unless it's Sunday now until after Thanksgiving. Lovely pictures Renie!

I am so lucky in having a Hubby who does not complain about shopping. He will spend as much time as I want, lucky me!!
I know I have deer around here also, but seldom see them.
You have so much joy in your life, thank you for sharing with us.

I love your front yard!!!

Deer season isn't my favorite either. I'm in the country and hear the shots ringing out. But I do understand the purpose.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful visit, Renie!

Thanks for stopping around to my blog. Today the sun has been shining, but it's COLD.

Your surrounding are just beautiful! I can see why you love it so much. My son has a 10 point deer that comes by every evening for the corn he puts out. We're afraid he will be caught by one of the hunters. His property also has the no hunting signs, but like you said, hunter seem like they can't read.

Hope you are having a great week.

I just love the photos you post! Makes me wish I lived in the country every time!

When my sister and I go shopping we split up and then keep in touch on our phones. We'll end up calling each other every few minutes--it's a bit silly, really!

I hope you're having a wonderful week, Renie!

Hugs,
Sammy

Good evening Renie.

I have so many folders, when I download pictures half the time I don't know which folder they are in. But I'm slowly learning.

Have a good night, I'm trying to get a cold so don't know if I will sleep or not.
