Still No Power/pictures added

the weight of the ice on the power lines

all the trees have dropped many limbs.
it will take years for them to grow and restore.

this is a road with every power line down from the heavy ice

No power, no generators to be found.
(you can see more info here: http://kait8.com)
The ice is melting thank goodness, and the water is being caught
in buckets to use for washing up with etc. No candles,
or batteries or basics in stores. Fema is providing water and MRE's (?) or
packaged meals from soldiers, they will get hers tomorrow.
I've sent many packages with radios,
tv, batteries, lamps that even though were shipped overnight are
still not there. Probably due to road conditions. My mom is very brave
and strong, despite what she thinks. I've always read that one can get
used to anything in time, and with patience, I think it's true.

Thank you so much for the update on Renie. Knowing that so many people are out there ready to lend a hand is great. I have a black and decker weather station that I keep plugged in all the time. When the power goes off, it's lights come on. It has a plug in for the cell phones and an inverter as well as a detachable flashlight. I also have the crank up flashlights. So glad you have sent her more supplies. Renie is our hero.

Thanks for the update on Renie. Yes with time we can get use to anything, but that still doesn't make us happy and comfortable. After reading her blog for so long now, I have a feeling she was prepared by having candles, batteries and etc. stored for such an emergency. I am so happy she's ok. Tell her to hang in there, it has to be over soon. Temps here for the past couple of days, have been a little higher, although the snow isn't melting very fast and there is ice under the snow. Give her our love and tell her we're thinking of her.

Renie, I hope you will soon have your electricity back on. I know we can make do when we have to... but it is so much better when things are working again. Can't wait for the stories you will be able to tell us when you get back on line. You sure are missed!! Luv-n-hugs!

the National Guardsmen are there now. so far today, they drove humvees and went door to door on her street checking on people. i'm sure the tree limb removal will start soon, or I hope it does. I think that's the first step in getting the power back on in the rural areas. She did get one package finally today but only the tv with no batteries uggh! then they found some but the little bugger didnt work so she didnt get a tv night as she thought. she is so tired that i'm hoping she sleeps better tonight. thanks for caring everyone. i will read her the posts tomorrow!

I can also send things if you just tell me what the needs are. My email is on my profile page. Glad that the Coast Guard is there!!!

Hang in there, Miss Renie!!! You have made the female population proud!!! No man could do what you've done!!! LOL Love you!!!! And lots of WARM hugs coming your way!!!

Renie,

I pray you have power soon. I got my power on tonight after eight days. Laura Ingalls has nothing on us!! I live in an all electric home and was not near as prepared as I thought I was. Our roads look just like these pictures. Take care,

Loretta

Renie, these look like pictures that were taken up North of us a few weeks back! Thankfully for everyone, the power crews work long and hard hours to restore what Mother Nature takes away. I hope you are doing Ok and staying safe and warm!
Many hugs and prayers for everyone!
