Patsy, your comment cracked me up! I don't qualify for wild child, but perhaps a wild senior citizen? Hahaha.

Thank you Barbara!

Hi Renie,,

It's been awhile since I have visited you. Your comment of not knowing there were sugar camps in Maryland. We had a sugar camp on the farm we had before we moved to Iowa. Our farm was about a mile from where Leo Beachy lived. We used to make maple syrup and it was oh so good!

You need good insurance to ride on one of those things. At least I would if I ever rode one as I would spend more time upside down in the water than riding on it.

You're a fantastic and great lady! You are an example for me: you do things with so much pleasure and courage! You asked about facebook. The problem is, I am no longer doing facebook, though my name is still there. My last name is François, my maiden name is Wouters. So all together I am called Wil François_Wouters. In my country the first family name is the husband's and the maiden name follows. I don't go to Facebook, though both my daughters are there. But I want to be your friend of course! Love and hugs!

you go girl!!!!!!!!!!!! Those things are nice... Just wanted to drop by and say hello. Mostly to thank you for the prayers and the ecouraging words. JB is doing good. I just manily want to hear his voice. Right now its just chatting on Facebook. Hopefully after today when I get everything hooked up I can hear his sweet voice. Hope you have a good one

What a pretty place to jet ski!! I've never did it but it's on my list of things to do!!

Enjoy!!!

Thank you so much for your visit! It's so nice to see you so often and have a little chat. We just had an enormous down-pour. The water came out of my two toilets and so I had to dry my lavatory and bathroom. We also had a lot of hail. Big hailstones. I was worried about my daughter who was cycling to another village in the middle of the rain and thunderstorm. But she returned safely, thank God.

Aww, I'm jealous! I haven't been out on one since last summer! You look great!

Hi Renie! That's funny you thought "Sam" was a man! That's the reason I use Sammy on the blog. Although my closest friends call me Sammy, most people do call me Sam. Samantha has always seemed so formal to me!

Anyway, it's fun to be facebook friends with you! :-)

You look like a young woman. I'm very impressed.

Good morning Renie! Thanks for your kind comment on my "deluge".The bathroom and lavatory were easy to clean and the leakage of the roof is reparable fortunately!

either u are really tiny or that machine is really big! go wild woman, go!

Hi Renie, good morning! Thanks for your visit. No you probably haven't got old buildings in the USA, but your country has far more interesting nature than my flat and wet country and we have no remnants of our indigenous people ( that's us) like rock paintings, for we have no rocks. Rock paintings in Europe are found in Scandinavia, France and more countries around the Miditerranean Sea. May be in Great Britain.

So every country has something interesting. That's why this meme is so great! Have a nice week, Renie! Hugs, Wil

Linda said...

Well, look at you girlfriend!!! That would be so much fun. I love spending time on the water, but I wear my life jacket because I can't swim.

Renie, that looks like fun, I don't think I would have the nerve to ride one. Hope you are having a nice week.

Thanks Renie! That is so cool about your success too! Makes life so much more fun I believe...

PS..this photo still cracks me up!

Just stopping by to say hi, Renie. I hope you're well! :-)

This cold has really messed me up...doctor says it's a virus...it's a bad boy one for sure!

I loved your story of coming to America...what you saw and more importantly what you thought. That is a true gift to your readers. Most of us are here by birth and no nothing of the struggles you and your family endured to come to America.

I'd love to read stories about your childhood...maybe you have some you have already written and could repost.

I hold in my heart the stories my mom and aunt told me about their childhoods. My mom's dad owned the general store in the small town they lived in. The only other business in town was the Funeral Home. Mom said she and her sister were the best dressed in town because when the funeral home orderd silk and velvet for the caskets my grandmother would make their dresses out of the extra material. They had beautiful coats of velvet with beautiful silk linings...complements of the Funeral Home! Although I thought the story a bit morbid when I was younger...now I cherish it.

Well...I'm off to drink yet another cup of hot tea!

Hi Renie. I am Bob Vornberg, Brenda's husband. Our granddaughter Maddie stayed with us overnight, and this morning as we played with her in the family room, I picked up the new "Chicken Soup" book and read your story on page 256 -- "Making the Best of the Worst of Times". As I looked down at our Maddie and pictured in my mind the scene you were painting, the example and lesson of your Grandfather made a very strong impression on me. I had a real sense of his spirit - not speaking to me in words - but as a role model, which he surely must have been for you.

We have a young willow tree growing in our back yard, and whenever I look at it now, I will be reminded of your Grandfather - and it will remind me to try to be a role model to Maddie.

I believe that God provides these "connections" for us if we are open to them. Please know that the spirit of your Grandfather is alive in our hearts.

Thank you.

Renie I just stumbled across your blog because my maiden name was Burghardt. Just wondering if there is a family connection?

Hi Miss Renie! Always nice to see your comments on my post! Yes, I think I'd better be prepared for HOT weather in Texas! Yikes! I'm a snow gal at heart! Thank goodness for air conditioning. We are going into another hot and humid spell for the next week or so, I so loved the weather of last week, breezy, warm and not humid but can't have it all. :o)

Take care my friend, continue to enjoy your summer!!! Are we going to see you sky diving next?????

Hi Renie! Thanks for your visit! I enjoy seeing you and writing to you! No wonder you haven't heard of Friesland . It's a province of the Netherlands, which is a small country and so all our 12 provinces are even smaller. I don't know all the states of the USA. And every state is many times larger than my country. So, what are we talking about. Yet it's part of my world.

Just came by to say Hi and thank you for all your visits each day. How are you and what have you been up to lately? Maybe some day soon you can squeeze a blog post in for all of us. WE MISS YOU and your wonderful posts.

Well anyway I think tomorrow is Chinese Buffet, so enjoy! Good night.

Good evening, Renie,

Leo's niece has had 4 short volumes of his writings and photos published. She has given me permission to print some of the things in them. Plus, I have some of his original writings, which he wrote out in long hand. She is instrumental in seeing that his photographs are brought to peoples attention. There is a museum of his works and some of his cameras and things back in Grantsville, Maryland, the area he was from and loved and photographed. It is where we moved from 11 years ago when we moved to Iowa. His niece also has 2500 glass plates, which she is trying to get developed onto digital or something, I guess it is very time consuming and expensive. Next summer when we go back to visit the family, she wants me to bring my collection so she can look at them. We have many of the same photos, but a few I have she doesn't have. I hope all this makes sense to you.

Good night.
