Of Lions and Lambs

Well, March came in like a lamb in my little corner of the Ozarks. Saturday was sunny and 65F, Sunday was sunny and 74F, although it was windy. The old saying is, "If March comes in like a lion, it goes out like a lamb." We'll see at the end of the month.

We all know that March is very changeable. This morning, it is still warm, but rain is pounding the ground, and I see lightning streaks in the distance. And we are even under a winter weather advisory for tonight and Tuesday, with snow and sleet in the forecast. This little poem sums up March nicely:

March bustles in on windy feet
And sweeps my doorstep and my street.
She washes and cleans with pounding rains,
Scrubbing the earth of winter stains.
She shakes the grime from carpet green
Till naught but fresh new blades are seen.
Then, house in order, all neat as a pin,
She ushers gentle springtime in.-
Susan Reiner, Spring Cleaning

So March is busy doing her spring cleaning even as I write this, to the sweet tune of the little peepers singing their spring song at the pond. Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Post Script, March 4th: I just found out that my friend Glo over at Young at Heart is celebrating her 65th birthday today! Happy Birthday, dear Glo! And many blessings on your special day!

Good Morning Ms. Renie,
"HAPPY MARCH" to you my friend. Yes, March did come in like a lamb. Wasn't it a beautiful weekend? I know I enjoyed the nice temperatures and the Spring like weather. I sat outside visiting my neighbors a while late yesterday afternoon. Yesterday was on the windy side here as well. We were under a Wind Advisory yesterday and I notice we are under one for today again. I have just heard it Thundering outside and it is raining a little right now. I just hope it doesn't get too severe. We are not under any Winter Weather advisories at this time. It will probably all go around as as it has before. I enjoyed the Poem about March. "THANK YOU" for sharing it with us. We will see how March goes out won't we? One never knows about the weather around here. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Morning, Karen,

Oh, my, we've had torrential rains here this morning and even overnight. Right now, it slowed down some, but more is in the forecast. The weekend was lovely.

Happy March to you, dear Karen. Thank you for being such a sweet and faithful friend. Have a nice Monday. See you a little later.

Hi Renie,

What a wonderful poem! I agree, it does sum up March beautifully!

I hope that saying, March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb comes true for us this year. We had another snow storm. I always love spring, but this year, I am looking forward to it even more than usual. LOL

I hope that storm coming your way fizzles out. :-)

Have a great week!!

Hugs,
Tina

The Poem was beautiful & since I'm a March baby....I really liked it. Over the weekend we had the same weather, today it's cold and 27 degrees. I'm just glad March didn't come in this year like it did in 43....I was born in one of the biggest snow storm....

Hi Tina,

More snow in your area? Well, I hope spring will arrive soon in New Hampshire!

We've been having rain all day, but nothing bad. I just came home from town. And it's still mild out there. We'll see what tonight brings our way.

Thank you for coming by. I always enjoy hearing from you.

Good afternoon, we're having a lot of wind here at the moment. Temp says 64, but its suppose to get colder and then start raining. Tomorrow voting day, is to be colder yet. I don't mind the wind as long as it doesn't blow up a tornado. Have a great day and evening. Patty

Oh, that's right, tomorrow is primary day for you. My daughter as well. Hope the weather will cooperate with you! Thank you for coming by. Have a great afternoon and night.

Good Morning Ms. Renie,
I'm just dropping by for our morning coffee as usual. Is it Snowing or anything up your way yet? We sure got the rain here yesterday. I bet we got about 4 or 5 inches of rain. It was a hard and heavy rain as well, not the good soaking kind. Now we are under a Winter Weather Advisory here until noon. It is 33 degrees right now. I'm not getting my hopes up for anything. I'm sure you will get all of my Snow. LOL. I think Ryan said yesterday evening that Jonesboro may get a dusting of Snow. I guess I just live in the wrong part of the country for Snow. LOL. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours. "THANK YOU" for the coffee this morning. It sure taste's good on this cold morning after having such warm temperatures over the weekend.

Love & Hugs,

Dear Renie ~~ I am so glad your weather is warming up and soon there won't be any more cold freezing days.
Nice poem for Spring. Glad you enjoyed the story of Michael singing.
My daughter lives over 1,000 miles away, but she said on the phone she had a good birthday. Peter seems to be getting over his back ache etc.
Take great care, dear friend, Love,
Merle.

Renie Burghardt said...

Deborah,

We've had some freezing rain overnight, but it doesn't look too bad out. The deck looks very slick though. After today we warm up a bit again, I think.

We have blackberry winter as well, but that's when the blackberries are blooking, and a cold snap at that time is usually not too bad but it can damage blooms.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

Good morning, Karen,

No, it's not snowing....yet. We have been getting light freezing rain though. There is a chance for some snow today, but I hope it misses us. It's 32 here this morning, and stragely enough, the peepers (tree frogs) are still singing at the pond, even though it's getting cold. I can hear them in the house. I guess they're anxious for spring.

Thank you for stopping by. Coffee is sure good on a cold morning! Have a wonderful day, my friend.

Love and Hugs,

Dear Merle,

My daughter lives 800 miles away, as does my oldest son. But like you, we keep in close touch.

I'm glad to hear that your brother's back feels better. Nothing worse than a back ache. I know from personal experience.

Thank you for stopping by this morning, dear Merle. Have a wonderful day.

Love and Blessings,

Renie

Hi Glo,

Yes, we did get some beautiful, wet, clingy snow. About 3 inches. Then the sun came out! We still have snow on the grass and trees, but my driveway and road are all clear, thank goodness.

How is the weather your way?

Hope all is well with you.

Renie,

I was hoping that March came in like a lion here, but that was not the case. But yesterday and today, that lion has been roaring in the form of ice and ice pellets. Right not there is a layer of 2 inches of ice pellets all over the roads and sidewalks. Hubby just went out and it is treacherous.

I've been down with that nasty flu bug but am feeling better today. I even ventured to the drugstore. I still get tired very easily.

Take care.
Blessings,

What a wonderful way greet March with the poem Spring Cleaning. :)

Even though I am not in your part of the woods, our weather here (San Diego, CA) today felt like a wonderful spring day, the sun was out so full of cheer while the winds were sweeping my hair in every direction giving me a totally different hair style at that today.

Good Morning Ms. Renie,
Wow, you got my Snow again huh? LOL. We got just a tad bit of Snow yesterday morning. It didn't last long tho. It was coming down fairly good but the flakes wasn't all that big. It did accumulate on a few things and just a tad on the grass, but nothing major. It only made it up to 34 degrees here late yesterday afternoon. They are saying we may get another round on Friday. Today is suppose to be nice and warmer. It's suppose to be around 53 degrees today. I hope you took some more pictures of your Snow so I can see them again. I took one picture with my Cell Phone yesterday morning, but I'm going to wait and show it on Friday for my Phriday Phavorite Photo Phun that's hosted by Anni@Hootin'Anni's. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

March came in like a lamb here, but became a lion the third day with freezing rain and snow. Fortunately, it wasn't too bad. My daughter had treacherous ice as well the other day in Ohio. I hope you all stayed safe in the ice. And I am sorry to hear you had a nasty flu bug. Thank goodness you are getting better. Many have come down with the flu around here as well. Take care of yourself, as you are recovering from that nasty bug. And I'm glad Michelle is improving as well as she is. Thank the Lord for that! Thank you for stopping by.

Blessings,

Take care!

Sorry I missed you this morning. No, I didn't take any more pictures of the snow. And later in the day, the sun came out and turned most of it into slush! I'm glad you at least got a tiny amount. That's better than nothing. LOL. Today was a beautiful day around here. Sunny and we got up to 50. And yes, more snow is in the forecast for Thursday night into Friday. Then it warms up again. I'll look for your snow picture on Friday.

Thank you for visiting. It's always nice to hear from you, dear Karen.

Take care and God bless!

March has been mild here too. I hope it stays this way. We did have a cold morning of 29 degrees but the sun was out this afternoon and it was in the 50s. I hope to get my lawn mowed tomorrow. It will be the first mowing of the year.
I love the poem. Thanks for posting it.
GOd bless you Renie

Hi Again Renie ~~ Thank you for your comments and I am glad you liked Who Walks into your life and will pass it on. That is one of the blessings of blogging, sharing nice stories and jokes and passing them around. Sharing the love!! I didn't figure out those words either. And yes Renis, we do have some lovely trees that change into lovely Autumn (Fall)colors and then the leaves drop off during winter. We have others that are evergreen. I haven't seen any yet as it has only just hit Autumn. Take care, my friend, Love, Merle.

Dear Mountain Mama-Bev,

You are moving your lawn already? Our lawns are still mostly brown around here, so it will be a while before they need moving. Slowly, Spring seems to be making progress towards us, but winter is being stubborn! After a nice day yesterday, there is cold and snow in the forecast again for the weekend!

Thank you for visiting, Bev. It's always nice to see you here.

Hugs and Blessings,

Renie

Hi Renie,
According to our weather here March did come in like a lamb, but March is also a very unpredictable month! I enjoyed the little poem. I had never heard it but now I will always think of March as "spring cleaning".

Thank you so much for your prayers and for the info about Yahoo newsletters. I'm trying hard to get this blood sugar under control. It isn't easy but I'm doing well with my diet.

Hugs,
Hope

Thank you for the visit and nice comment. March is being a lion here now, as we're under a winter storm warning for tonight and tomorrow! Yikes!

Take care, and have a great week.

Good Morning Ms. Renie,
I thought I would drop by for a cup of coffee on this very cold and windy morning. I am sitting here at my computer and I can hear the winds howling outside. My DH came by the house around 4:20a.m. this morning wanting a cup of my good coffee before going to Memphis to drop the load and having their truck worked on. He should be back sometime this afternoon. Well, I am disappointed once again. LOL. Can I cry on your shoulder? LOL. I woke up this morning around 2:30a.m. and we have NOTHING outside. I have been watching the radar and it appears to have gone North and West of us again. It breaks up before it gets to us. I was so hoping for some measurable Snow so the girls could make a Snowman. We are still under a Winter Storm Warning until midnight tonight tho. That wind is something else outside. When my DH stopped by a bit ago, when I opened up the front door, it was just awful. I put my picture up on my today's post of the little Snow we got here on Tuesday. We will be moving tomorrow so I will be offline until sometime after Monday. That is when the Cable & Internet people are suppose to come out and hook us up at the other house. Just as soon as I'm hooked back up, I will start posting and visiting again. Take care my friend and have a great day. If you get my Snow, enjoy it for me. LOL. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Good morning, dear Karen,

Oh, my, the snow missed you again? How dissapointing! It sure didn't miss us. We have at least 3 inches and maybe 4 out there, and may get more! Bummer! And I see the birds and beast gathering out there, waiting for me. I'll be heading out there soon.

I'll come by and look at your snow picture. I don't even feel like taking pictures of our snow, I am so sick of it. LOL. It's cold out there, but no wind. Have a good move, and a great day, my friend.

Hugs and Blessings,

Good Morning Ms. Renie,
I came by a bit ago and left a comment, but blogger ate it. That just makes me so mad when that happens. I hope you have some coffee ready for us on this cold and SNOWED IN SATURDAY. We are Snowed in here. It FINALLY started Snowing here around 11:30a.m. yesterday and they let School out at 12:15p.m. My DH made it home from Memphis around 3:30p.m. Him and the girls tried making a Snowman, but the Snow was too wet for it. Maybe they will be able to make one today. I don't think we will get to move today as there is so much Snow out there. I'm guessing we have around 5 or 6 inches of Snow. When I went to bed around 7:00p.m. last night, it was still Snowing then. I don't know what time it finally quit. I'll just have to wait till my DH gets up and see what he thinks about us moving. I doubt we will be able to tho. I was going to take some pictures of the Snow yesterday with my new camera, but I had to charge the batteries up, so I wasn't able to. If we don't move today, I will take some pictures and post them tomorrow. The Snow sure took it's sweet time about getting here. LOL. I did put up a new post this morning tho. Take care my friend and have a great day. Be careful if you have to get out. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Good morning, Karen!

Woo Hoo, you finally got your snow! Five or six inches? Wow, that's more than we got. We only got 3 inches, but it's more than enough for me! Yes, the snow might make moving a bit complicated, eh? Guess it came at the wrong time. Mother Nature does her own thing when she wants, I guess.

My son is here, and we'll be going out and about this weekend. His area got 8 inches of snow, but he made it here with no trouble.

Have a wonderful weekend, and enjoy that snow! Me, I can't wait for it to melt. LOL.

Love and Hugs,

Renie
