Tagged Again, and a New Award

Because of our beautiful weather in the past week, my daffodils/jonquils have perked up, and so have I. And because I have perked up, I've decided accept a new challenge. :-)

Patti at Nonna's News has tagged me for this new meme. I am to list 8 facts/habits that you may not know about me. Since I have done several meme's, I had to think hard to post some new facts without revealing my innermost secrets! :-) So here it goes:

1. I believe in miracles. (As a child, I was buried alive during a bombing, and survived.)

2. I am much too sensitive for my own good.

3. I have been a reluctant guest on live television.

4. I don't like to kill anything living. Spiders in the house get captured and deposited outside, as do other creepy crawlies and flyer's like wasps. My daughter doesn't share these views, especially about spiders!

5. I am a procrastinator, especially about going to the doctor, and with my writing. (I have a deadline now for March 30th, that I have been putting off.)

6. I am a type 2 diabetic, (mostly diet controlled,) a fact that often depresses me.

7. I love to eat out, and after I do, I usually walk it off. Walking keeps my sugar levels normal.

8. I have a Russian cousin I never knew about until fairly recently. She lives in Victoria, Australia now. I will do a blog about her soon. (Hi Elena!)

I am to tag 8 others to do this meme, but I will leave it up to you. If you'd like to play, please let me know, and I will come and read your meme. If not, God bless!
......

I also want to acknowledge this sweet and lovely new award sent to me by my old friend Mary at Mary's Writing Nook. Thank you so much, Mary. I certainly agree that "Friendship is a light in the darkness! "

Thank you for reading. Have a blessed week everyone!

Renie,

You have the most interesting facts about yourself. One of these days, I'm going to go back through all your old memes.

Your jonquils are so pretty. I'm with you in the "perking" up department. These warm spring days are spoiling me!!

Jmkdreak said...

Wow! They sure grew fast. I'm jealous, we have tiny tiny buds under the snow! Very beautiful just as you are.

I loved reading these amazing facts about you, Renie. You always astonish me and it surely is a miracle that you survived that bombing! It's also neat that you have a relative you just discovered. How fun!

Thanks for sharing. :-) And congrats on the award!

Michele

Dear Renie ~~ I am happy to hear that your weather and the spring flowers have perked you up as well. Congrats on the award from Mary. Interesting that you have a relative in Victoria Australia. I hope she is computer savvy and you can keep in touch with her, that way. I look forward to more
about Elena. How dreadful being bombed and buried alive, Rene. Hard to believe, but great you survived.
Try not to get too depressed about Diabetes 2. It could be a lot worse. I am on tablets for it now, but have the very occasional chocolate withour ill effect. Thanks
for your comments, glad you liked my bird hotel, and the story of the boy and his dog. It was new to me.
I hope your friend will be OK after
trips to Doctor. Enjoy the weekend.
Take care, Love, Merle.

Hi Michele,

Thank you for the nice comment. Good to see you back online. I hope you're enjoying your new laptop. Have a great weekend!

Dear Merle,

Yes, Elena is working at the University of Ballarat. Her husband graduated from there recently and is now working as a Softwear Developer. She is computer savvy and we keep in touch by email, and she even visits my blog. And she found me through the computer. It's a neat story and I will do a post about it sometime in the near future.

Thank you for the words of encouragement, dear Merle. I also enjoy an occasional treat, but I do get depressed at times. I think it goes hand in hand with the diabetes. But I do try hard to control it, and do a good job most of the time.

I always enjoy hearing from you, dear Merle. I hope your weekend weather is pleasant. We still have mild temperatures, but there is some rain today. Tomorrow promises to be sunny.

Love and Blessings,

Renie

Hi again Dear Renie ~~ Thank you for taking the time to comment on my short post. I did enjoy the evening with Joh and hearing his news and I was glad there was a good movie on that we both laughed at and enjoyed.
You take care of yourself, dear friend. Try my motto - "I'm too blessed to be stressed." Love, Merle.

Hello Miss Renie, I have been so busy I meet myself coming back, lol. Love your jonquils, I bought a bunch for the cancer society and they are opening up so prettily. After reading your post I went to the window to see if maybe mine were peeking up, but no. Quite a lot of my snow has melted and we had temps in the 40's which was lovely. Now somewhat chilly again, but making progress. Best to you and thank you for the glimpse of Spring, Barbara.

I am still waiting to get out and go to the park I love and sit by the water and spend some time with the Lord.
I love to see the ducks getting ready for the little ones to come.I seen a mom goose two years ago and she was on the nest.she had it right on a island close to the shore.and she was under a branch that hung over.I would never have seen her but she moved just as I was looking.
I sat and watched her a while.she looked so content and comfortable and blessed in her little nest.

then weeks later I came back down and there she was with her little fuzy family.she held her head up and swam by me many times as if to say see here they are.

Dear Merle,

I love your motto! May I borrow it? I will display it in various spots to think about it often. For it is so true. I, too, am too blessed to be stressed. Thank you, dear Merle. You made my day with your motto.

Dear Leann,

Always good to see you here, my friend. Spring should be there soon, bringing the hope of new life. I love to watch the animals as well. The mama goose showing off her goslings must have been a sweet experience for you.

I'm glad you got the Young at Heart Award. I'll come by and look, and maybe I can help you put it on your side bar, too. It's not too complicated, although it took me a couple of tries to finally do it. I love your Eagle's Nest award, and display it prominently and proudly!

Happy St., Patrick's Day to you, Leann and God Bless!

Love,

A very good meme. This beautiful weather is making everyone feel better. The trees are beginning to bud too.

Let us know in your blog about how you found your Russian cousin!

Renie Burghardt said...

Hi Deborah,

Yes, the trees are budding, and my forsythia is starting to bloom, and there are even a few dandelions blooming in the field, a sure sign of spring, around here.

Actually, Elena found me. I didn't know she existed. I will do a blog about it after Easter.

Thank you for reading and commenting. Have a great day and week!

Dear Renie ~~ We will have to stop meeting like this!! Thank you for your lovely comments and I am so pleased you like my motto, and when we think about what some folks go through, we are truly blessed. I am so pleased you liked the poem Julie sent me, and the jokes etc. And it's good news your friend is home from hospital and I hope she is well again now.
My grand-daughter used to go to Ballarat Uni, but she lives and works (as chef)in
Geelong now which is a bigger city. It's great you have found a new relative to
get to know and the computer is a great way to do that. My little bird really
seemed to talk- just as they do when they have babies ~ and I talked to it too. Second childhood, maybe? Take care
dear friend, Till next time, Love, Merle

Renie,

I love your meme list. I am glad you and Elena found each other. That's wonderful news.

I too am a type 2 diabetic. Mine was controlled for many years by diet, but I now take medication for it.

Very pretty jonquils. I'll be glad when my tulips and hyacinths are blooming.

Take care, my friend. I'm sure that your woods are beautiful at this time of year. I'd love to see photos of wildflowers when they are blooming.

Blessings,
Mary

Renie,
Hope all is well with you and your friends. Saw on T.V. where there is flooding down your way. Hope you safe. Thinking of and praying for you.
Blessings,
Glo

Renie Burghardt said...

Hi Glo,

Oh, we've had tons and tons of rain! It isn't flooded here where I am, but I hear some parts in town are flooded. Some of the stores close to the Current River had 3 feet of water. But it's not as bad as it is in Cape Girardeau, which is about a 130 miles from here. My phone line was affected by the rain and it went out last night and is now finally working again. Of course, I have a cell phone, but have to use the landline for the Internet.

Anyway, thank you for your concern and prayers. They're greatly appreciated.

Blessings,

Renie

Your meme answers are very interesting. When I read about you being buried alive in a bombing, I couldn't imagine how terrified you must have been.
Have you written a book about your experiences during that time? If so I want to read it.

I definitely believe in miracles too and I know our heavenly Father is the miracle maker.

I probably won't be doing the meme because I can't think of anything interesting to say. However if I do think of something I'll let you know.
God bless you with a beautiful week.
Love and hugs!

Renie,

I thought I posted. As I reread this post, I remembered reading it. I have a feeling that I posted and forgot to click on the "publish" button. Either that, or I posted something so off the wall you had to delete it! LOL

Your meme is fascinating. I cannot imagine being buried alive. You certainly had to be strong at a young age. Thank God for miracles. A reluctant tv guest? Now that is intriguing! Not to mention find out you had a Russian cousin.

Your jonquils are beautiful!! What a lovely photo.

Hugs,
Tina

Renie Burghardt said...

Tina,

I would never delete anything you had to say! And I just found this comment now.

Chicken Soup arranged an interview on a TV show in Jonesboro, Arkansas, in September of 2005. I did go, although I didn't want to. However, the anchor lady, Diana Davis, was most gracious and kind and put me at ease. It turned out to be a nice experience.

Thank you for the nice comment, my friend. I guess my life experiences, which have not always been pleasant, did make me into a strong person, and I'm thankful for that.

Hugs,

Renie

Dear Bev,

I just saw your comment as well. Thank you for the kind words on my meme. And yes, our Lord is the one who performs all miracles! If you do the meme, let me know. I would love to read it.

Hugs,

Renie
