Reflections, Weekend Wishes

Sometimes, when you take a picture, you are surprised at the result once you upload it to your computer. Well at least I was, when I snapped this one.

It happens every fall. The walking sticks that live in the oak trees come down. Suddenly they're everywhere-on the deck, on the house, on the car. See the one here on the antenna of one of the cars? I thought he looked interesting, clinging to the antenna like that. So I snapped his picture. And when I uploaded it, I noticed the reflections in the windows of the car of the house, the tree putting on color, the woods...kind of pretty, and pretty interesting, I thought.

It has been a beautiful week here, and the weekend promises to be just as beautiful with lots of sunshine and low 80s. I will be out and about enjoying it.

I hope your weekend is beautiful as well.

Blessings from the woods.

That walking stick looks pretty big to me. I haven't seen one around here for a very long time.

Nice that you're having a nice time with Greg and your lady friends.

Today is the annual Fireman's Parade here in town. So around two pm there will be lots and lots of noise, with the firetrucks and all their equipment, plus all the small towns around bring their's in, and there are some floats, clowns(which I don't care for) and the Shriner's riding their little cars. But the kids enjoy it.

It's been very cool here. Have a nice rest of the week-end.

I'm not sure I know what a walking stick is.. I thought it was just a twig.. hmm?

The reflections of your beautiful color in the car's glass is stunning..

Our leaves have not turned color as much as your's have.

Renie,

I still can't get over those walking sticks - I have never seen one around here...or anywhere. lol

Reflections - sometimes they are very pretty - I think a lot depends on surroundings, the glass and the amount of light. Yours turned out good.

This weekend - I'm not sure what's going on. Some of the stations around here are finally beginning to get gas - so that problem will start to ease up over the weekend for sure.

Maybe I'll hike the trail for a while today and I want to get out to see a certain historical church Monday or Tuesday.

I have to stick close to home because Amanda is almost ready to deliver. And she's out driving every where...looking for stuff to decorate their new apartment.

You couldn't have paid me a million dollars to leave the house when I was 9 months pregnant. All I did was cry - because I was so miserable and fat. lol

Very interesting picture Renie! This is a reflective time of year for me. It sounds like you see a lot of walking sticks. I don't ever remember seeing very many in my life time. I have seen some very large odd looking bugs around our back yard and I don't know where they come from. I need to take pictures of them to see if anyone knows what they are. Have a wonderful weekend!

Wow! I have never seen a walking stick! I guess we don't have them around here, maybe they don't like six feet of snow! lol! That's a great shot, I like all of the reflection in the car window. Yes, sometimes we get nice surprises like that when we upload our pictures!
It's beautiful here this weekend too. The sun is out, it's crisp but I love it. Riding this morning was beautiful, I got a few pics but most of our foliage is faded by now even though the newspeople are telling us we are only at 30 percent! Sure looks like 80% to me!

Hope you are having a fun weekend Renie!! xoxo

Very interesting indeed!! The leaves look like they are at their peak in your nick of the woods. Here the leaves just look dried up. Guess because we haven't had any rain. In Sept. we got 1/700th of an inch, the driest Sept. on record.

The walking stick landing on the antenna in amazing. Enjoy nature this weekend. I'm having a giveaway. Stop by if you would like to enter.

Renie,

I like your picture today. Very interesting with the walking stick and the reflections. It's looks like you are having a beautiful fall. The trees in the reflection are gorgeous.

Have a lovely and splendid week-end.

Hi Renie

I've never heard of a walking stick. Is it a twig or is it alive? Sounded as though it was alive as you called it alive.

It's a lovely picture and I'm envious of your weather. It's very cold here and wet too! Forecast is for 11 degrees Centigrade tomorrow but dry. I'm still on Fahrenheit so not sure what this is in Fahrenheit. Just know it's cold! They don't give the temperature in Fahrenheit now we're Europeans! I feel a campaign coming on. Think I'll harrass the BBC about it.

Hi Winifred,

Walking sticks are insects, so named because they look like a stick or twig. That is their disguise.

Around here, walking sticks spend their life up in the oak trees, munching on the leaves. In the fall they come down, lay their eggs at the base of the oak and then die at the first frost. The eggs hatch in the spring, the baby walking sticks climb up the trunk of the tree and spend their life munching the oak leaves. And so their cycle continues.

Oh, and Winifred, I am not sure what 11 Centigrate is in Fahrenheit, but it sounds chilly!

I am surprised so many of you haven't seen a walking stick. Maybe they are not as common in the South, Ann and Deborah. We have lots of them, and they are quite harmless and interesting.

Thank you everyone for your comments. I hope your weekend is going well.

Renie,

I agree with Miz Lincoln. That walking stick looks huge. We do see them once in a while.

The reflections in the car window are amazing. Thanks so much for sharing.

It has been cold and rainy here all week, but didn`t rain today. It is to be nice now for about 3 days before the rain returns and it is rather chilly, though warmer temperatures are coming too. It will be a high of 58 on Monday.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend.
Blessings,
Mary

Renie,

I like the look of your blog. I am just learning how to do different things, so am practicing changing things. Now if I ever learn how to download the pictures in my camera, I will be messing around all the time.

Dear Renie ~~ Great photo with the colors in reflection and those huge walking sticks. We have small ones and
call them stick insects. I am glad you are still getting some tomatoes. They taste so much nicer than bought ones. Thank you for your comments and congrats. Rachael and Andrew seem to be doing really well with little Chloe Maree. My friend, Lorraine surely is a Blessing. She has had her house on the market for 3 or 4 months. I will miss
her very much when she moves. Take very good care of yourself dear Renie'

Thanks for this Renie

Those insects look great. Shame they don't live long.

Yes 11 Centrigrade is cold about 52Fahrenheit. However it's absolutely glorious, sunny and clear blue skies so I think it's warmer than they forecast. Very warm in the garden. Unfortunately I've developed a streaming cold. Probably "manflu", just a heavy cold, not the real thing!

Yes it is a lovely a dn very interesting picture. The reflection of all the fall colors in the window is great.
I didnt know walking sticks were so large. I hope they don't bite or sting! We don't have them here in the Pacific Northwest but have had a variety of assorted grasshoppers this year and some are VERY big!
We had a wild rain and windstorm yesterday which cause a bit of damage but today it's dry and a bit cloudy. Typical Autumn weather for these parts.
I pray your week end has been blessed and that the coming week will be as well.
God bless you Renie,
Love & hugs

Hi Renie,

I too was watching "Dancing...Stars"
Cloris is funny, and I give her a 10 for trying. I can't imagine what it takes for her to do what she does. I know I couldn't. I look for her to go tomorrow night. We'll see.

Thanks for all your visits.
