Ice Ice Everywhere

The Ozarks were hit hard by the icestorm.

No power, trees down and terrible ICE everywhere!

Renie will "b"log on once her power is back. For right now,
she is living as Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Please pray for all the people without power, heat or running water.

She misses everyone and will post pictures when she gets
back online.

Please feel free to leave her good thoughts and well wishes!

Andrea

OH! I hope you are keeping warm and have enough food stored away for a while. Waiting to hear about your experience without electric. We don't miss it until we don't have it.

Thanks Andrea for letting us know. I did hear about all of the outages south, but was hoping it would get fixed real soon. Will be praying for all of you without electricity.

Hi Renie!

I have been wondering about you! I know the gals in Arkansas have been without power. That was a terrible storm! I do hope your pantry was well stocked this time. I have gas logs if I should ever need them and a propane gas grill on the patio to cook on. We have lost power here in other years due to ice storms, too, and it's no fun living like the pioneers did.

Anxious to read your story about this storm and way of living. So nice that Andrea did this post to let us know.

Stay warm, and we'll be here when you return to posting! Praying that your power is restored soon!

Renie........thoughts and prayers

This ice ain't nice. The TV says that this is the 2nd worst ice storm in Kentucky's history, with more than 150,000 homes still without power, including my mother's and sister's.

My prayers for all who are with electricity and that they shall have power as soon as possible.

thanks everyone, I will be reading these over the phone for her. She has been a real trooper. She lost power, then the tree limbs started falling BOOM BOOM BOOM! one on her car, then after she finally fell asleep, BOOM, one on her kitchen!
then she lost her phone power. She finally has a radio that works, thank God for my brother, and she is quite happy with it. Amazing what we can get used to in our lives. Thanks and I will tell her and it will brighten her spirits. My brother tells me that the destruction around them is unbelievable, simply put, he who has seen a lot, was in shock.

Andrea, thanks so much for doing this for Renie. We've all wanted to know how things are for her.

I hope everyone's power is restored quickly. I know it is not fun in an ICE storm.

Renie, I will want to see your pictures and hear your stories. Please be careful.

oh, you're welcomed.
i feel so bad for her and am planning to go and help if the power out is too long. she wont go
to a shelter with all the furbabies! she's been through alot but her spirits were better once she got a working radio. being in the dark with no noise but trees falling is nerve wracking to say the least.

We have been living in our camper. We how have power. Are you warm and safe? Jonesboro was bad but the country side is like a war zone. In Blytheville the house we lived in now has a tree in the living room.

Just checking to see if you had power yet. Diane at Diane's Place said hers came on about midnight last night but that it is still flickering off and on today, but now her daughter has lost hers.

Hope you are doing okay through the cold...I am thinking of you!!!

I just read your other comments and there was a comment updating us about you. A limb on your car and then your kitchen!!! I would have been scared to death! You are a brave woman, Renie!

I don't know who is doing your posting for you, but they are doing a great job of letting us know what's going on with you. I know you won't leave your furry friends...I wouldn't, either. Do you have a woodburning stove or fireplace? I am thinking of you all the time!!! Will be back to read further updates on your status there. Cuddle up with those little furballs as they throw off a lot of good body heat. I love it when mine crawl under my afghan and lay against my legs and on my tummy! Wish I lived within walking distance of you cause I would be there! We could play cards! LOL Love you, Renie!

Take care Renie. Stay safe and warm.

We do take things for granted until we don't have them.

Renie,

Thinking of you - and I hope that you are safe and doing ok until all of this is over. I had no idea that you had lost power and were without basics. Take care of yourself and the animals.

*Thanks, Andrea, for keeping her blogging friends up to date.

I hope that everyone who is blogging here and is without power will be safe and get through the storm.

I am thankful, Georgia has been lucky so far.

thanks for all the well wishes. I've read them to my mom and she appreciates them too! She and my brother went to town today and were happy to find the Chinese Buffet opened. A nice hot meal made them both feel better. No power yet though but she is enjoying her new crank radio as much as possible. I hope she can post soon, I know she would love to be able to.

Oh no, I hope it isn't a repeat or what she described in a prior post. Tell her my prayers are with her and everybody affected by this!!

Renie Burghardt said...

yes it pretty much is, however i believe this time is much worse!
so sad, all the trees are being ripped apart by the weight of the ice. there is descruction everywhere, it's very sad.
i called the power company again just to make sure they know where she is and that the power lines are down and she should be a priority!

You, all your friends and everyone else without power are in our prayers. Hope it's back soon. Just be careful you don't slip and break something, like yourself. See you later with another interesting story about the 2009 ice storm.

Still no power? You should be a priority, like Andrea said. Glad you got out to the Chinese Buffet, anyhow!

Just want you to know that you are still in my prayers, Renie, and that my thoughts are with you every day!

Anxious to see pics of the ice in your area. I'm sure you have taken some. We will all be waiting for your next post!
