A Downer, an Upper, and a Little Blogging Break

"Money will buy a fine dog, but only kindness will make him wag his tail." (Or his little stump!) I love this quote!

, The other day I found this old picture of my sweet, good boy Rottie, Oscar/Ozzie, on an old CD. He was my faithful guardian, protector and loyal friend for almost ten years. When he went to doggie heaven in the summer of 2007, it broke my heart. He is buried at the edge of the woods here, and to this day, whenever I pass his resting place, I tell him how much I miss him, because, oh, I do! That is the "downer" part of this post.

Now, to the "upper" part. This afternoon, my older son, daughter in law, and sweet, nine year old granddaughter Mckenzie arrived, to spend a few days with me. Yay!!

So I am now on a little blogging break for a few days, and will see you all again soon.

Have a wonderful rest of the week, friends.

Blessings from the woods!

Here's hoping you enjoy your family time, Renie. It's hard to lose a family member, regardless of how many legs they have. ;)

It is nice that you are able to visit where he is buried, Renie. That is a big plus about owning a lot of land. Very happy for you to have your family visit you for a while. Hope you get to do lots of things outdoors. Our weather is suppose to improve, I heard. We'll miss your blogging and comments, but kick up your heals and have fun!

I know how you feel. Sometimes my days seem so empty without my Dukealicious Dog. I'm glad you get to spend time at his resting spot. Rotties are such good pets and fiercely loyal. I understand completely that you're missing him so intensely. I'm glad you've got some company to help you through that down time. Enjoy.

Dogs are such faithful and loyal friends. We have a boston terrier buried on the edge of our yard. He was such a good pet. We still miss him very much. His name was Bruno.

Enjoy this time with your family!

Look forward to reading and seeing pictures about their visit with you!

It's hard losing a pet. We have five dogs buried in our back yard.

Enjoy your visit with your family. Take some photos to share when you get back on the internet.

Today is suppose to be a wonderfully nice day here in Ohio. I want to mow the lawn, still have a lot of small sticks in the back yard that need to be picked up.

I so know what you mean, my Duchess and her friend Elvira are at rest under some large trees in back of the house. They have company from other of our critters. I have a talk with them when I am out there and have planted flowers for them.

I love your little crik, just the perfect size. A fun place to visit with so much to see.

Enjoy your family, you are one lucky lady.

Renie,

I'm running a little bit behind on commenting - big jobs to do and a big week of events and family.

I love the post below of your creek, that is what I love about this time of year - the warm weather coming in and spring flowers growing in the woods and fields.

I hope that you had a nice Easter - and have a good weekend with your children!

I'm off to somewhere - where I don't know, but the woods are calling....:)

Animals touch us in special ways, don't they, Renie? My cats are getting up there and I often think about what it will be like when they go. (Unbearable!) We're fortunate that they all have such individual personalities and a new animal can come into your life with ease. You never forget the one that's gone though.

Enjoy your family time!

Your dog looks like he was a real sweetie. I miss my dear old Barnabas too.

I hope they will be waiting for us in heaven and just imagine the tail wagging when we see them again. "I mean their tails, not ours" LOL

I think all of us who have lost a pet can relate to this post. Thankfully they live forever in our hearts.
Enjoy your time with your family and we'll catch up when you return!

What a sweet tribute to your companion of ten years.

My heart goes out to you, Renie. I love dogs so much I think I may be devolving into one. Actually, maybe that's e-volving.

I lost my sweet Gracie about 2 years ago. She was a 15-year-old Aussie mix who loved her herd mightily. She saw me through a very hard time, and I truly did not know how I'd make it without her.

Ten days later, while "casually" visiting a dog adoption day, Gracie's "soul" daughter tumbled out of a crate, rolled into my lap, put her paws on my face, and came home with me. To this day, I think of her as a "healing" dog.

Have you considered another dog?

May your visit with family be filled with joy.

I'm looking forward to following your blog.
Cheers

Renie,

I remember Oscar. He was a beautiful dog and I know you miss him. We're still missing Meeko, even though we now have Dakota.

I'm so glad your family is there spending some time with you. Enjoy their company.

Blessings,

Oh this post really touched my heart. I lost my buddy Frasier (my good boy Rottie) to cancer just after he turned 3 years old. That was over 10 years ago. My heart was broken and to this day I cry every time I meet a big lovable stubby tailed Rottie. What beautiful friends they are. They will stay with us forever Renie!

I miss my dog too. I am really ready, in my heart, to have another dog, but we have decided that our lifestyle doesn't have a place for a doggie right now.

Your boy looks precious.

Have a great time with your family. Enjoy every minute ofyour time together.

Renie, that is so sweet, I also talk to my dog and cats grave and tell them I miss them still. My most faithful and loyal dog Jake is at my other home and it makes me sad. We lived in the country when we got him as a pup, and when we moved in town he was not happy, he longed for the open fields he roamed and one fateful night he got loose and ran in the street and was hit and killed. Hope you have a wonderful time with your son and his family.

To see a pet die is a heart breaking experience, for pets give unconditional love. We had to bury so many pets that I decided never to take a new pet again.
How nice that your son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter are with you now. I wish you a very nice time together with the family! Thanks for your visit!
