Happy Day

After a good, substantial rain the other day, everything has perked up once again. The grasses are greener, the trees don't look as droopy, and the fawns, after enjoying the freshly rained on grass they munched on, are frolicking in the field, as kids will do when they're happy.

I am happy today as well. Good news in the email, a nice phone call from an editor, and more good news in another email. My cup runneth over. Thank you, Lord!

Next week I will have a "quickie" published on Common Ties. A "quickie" had to be a story told in 200 words. And when I read their guidelines to it, I thought, 'well, one never knows until one tries.' So I tried, but didn't have much hope for it. I'm usually a more wordy writer; I mean how much of a story can one tell in just 200 words?

Yesterday, I received an email from Common Ties that my quickie was accepted, and today, the wonderful Elizabeth, editor of Common Ties called me. It was a pleasure to talk to her! She told me my story will be posted on the site Monday or Tuesday, and said the pleasure was all hers! And she will put a link to my little blog at the bottom of the story. And I will put the link to my story on Common Ties, right here, on my little blog. A fair exchange, don't you think? :-) (If you understood what I was trying to say.)

But the day is ending with even more good news. Just two or so weeks ago I was notified of being a finalist in the new, Chicken Soup for the Soul, Celebrating People Who Help Other People, book. Today I'm no longer just a finalist, my story made it into the book! So I will be going to sleep with a thankful heart tonight. A happy day, all around.

That is a Happy Day, Renie! I'm so happy for you ;-) You are so deserving!!

Can't wait to read you in Chicken Soup: People Helping People, and hear your voice on Common Ties podcast!

Yes, you are blessed.

Hi Michele,

Yes, it was a happy day, and I slept so well. I don't know about being so deserving, but I'm trying, here and there. Teri's email about my story being in, was a big woohoo, for me. As for the Podcast, it will be just the story without the Podcast. As you know, I'm on dial-up here. Hoping for high speed soon, but it hasn't happened yet. So no Podcast, but I'm happy about the story being up early next week. And Elizabeth is one of the nicest editor I've ever talked with.

Thank you for the nice comment, my friend. Have a great day.

Renie,

My sincere congratulations on all your successes. Loved the photos. I'm looking forward to reading your quickie on Common Ties and also the Chicken Soup book.

Have a wonderful weekend. It's a sunny fall day here. Yesterday and the day before we were blessed with some much needed rain.

Take care,
Mary

Renie,

I'm glad you were accepted by Common Ties, I'm looking forward to reading your story. It will also be an opportunity for the public to visit Common Ties. I'm not familiar with them, so yes, a fair exchange. 200 words or less - Your post on your grandparents and the rose bush was a good one, so it seems that we are all doing a good job on our blogs! lol Or at least, we are getting in good practice.:)

Both a "quickie" and an "enduring" in one day! We should all be so blessed.

Mary,

Thank you so much for your congratulations, and I know you meant it sincerely! I can't wait for my quickie to be posted in a few days. It's something a little different for me.

We have a beautiful day here as well, and the weekend will be the same, so we're happy about that. Glad you also had some rain, as we did a few days ago. But we need a lot more, since the summer was so dry and hot. I enjoyed your pictures as well, and am glad Meeko is such a well mannered and good boy!

Take care, Mary!

Renie

Deborah,

I'm surprised to see you here this morning. I thought you left already for the wedding. It's a nice surprise.

Common Ties is a great Story Blog. They get thousands of visitors every day, and have great opportunities for writers. Check them out and their guidelines on their story requirements. And of course, they are a nicely paying market, which is always good. :-)

Enjoy the wedding. Can't wait to read all about it.

Phillip,

Thank you for the visit and nice comment. Hope you come back when I post the link to my quickie, and check it out. I'd love to hear what people think about it. But it is only a quickie; nothing to brag about, really.

Thanks again!

Great news! Congrats! I've been published at Common Ties a few times, and they're very nice. I'll look forward to seeing your story there.

Now, I'm tagging you for the Random 8 Meme.

Hi Amy,

I have read 2 of your stories on Common Ties, and they were great. Especially loved the one about your bunny smuggle!

Thanks for tagging me. I don't know how to insert the links with the names, and I don't knopw 8 people who blog that would continue this, so I guess it will have to end it with me. But I will list my eight things. Since I have been neglecting my blog, because I've been busy, it can be my latest blog entry. Thanks, Amy!

Renie,

I am glad you liked my stories. I just read yours and very much enjoyed it.

As far as the meme, I just think they're fun, whether or not people carry them on. I like learning strange facts about people. :-)
