The Dawn of a New Day! The Dawn of a New Year!

I took this shot of a beautiful sunrise in the woods the other morning. The dawn of a beautiful new day, as the old year is winding down, and the dawn of a new year is upon us.

I am not making any new year's resolutions this year. But I do have a motto that I have always followed and will continue to follow in the new year:

A happy New Year! Grant that I
May bring no tear to any eye
When this New Year in time shall end
Let it be said I've played the friend,
Have lived and loved and labored here,
And made of it a happy year.
~Edgar Guest

New Year's Eve will find me celebrating early with lunch at a Chinese Buffet. And much to my family and friends dismay, I do not plan on staying up until midnight, to watch the ball drop and to receive Happy New Year phone calls. That will have to come on New Year's Day, which will also find me dining out and wishing friends and acquaintances a happy new year. What can I say? I'm an early bird!

My family, friends, animals, and Nature have been a big blessing in the old year, and I pray that, that will continue into the new year. I don't ask for any more than that.

Thank you for reading. I wish you all a healthy, happy and prosperous new year, friends.

Oi Veh! I was still working on this post when it accidentally published! So when I posted the finished one, I lost the comments I had on the unfinished one! LOL. Very sorry for that, friends. It's a good thing it's not New Year's Day. I wouldn't want to start the new year that way. Again, I'm so sorry for the big boo boo I made.

Renie- Happy New year to you and I hope you sleep well. We are having a party and now I am wishing for an early night myself... too much work and preparation. It seemed like a good idea back in October....

Renie,

I hope that you have a Happy New Year and enjoy your family and friends.

I usually stay up to see the New Year in, so I'll be up, bright eyed and bushy tailed.

All I'm going to do on New Year's Day is.....nothing. Because, afterward, I have it cut out for myself.

Happy New year Renie - may peace and joy be yours in 2009.
I love Edgar Guest's poetry. I have read his work for years and years.
What a lovely post.

I love your motto Renie. I don't make resolutions at all. I used to but soon discovered they don't hold. Now I just ask Heavenly father to help me to be pleasing to Him and a blessing to others. If I could do that, everything else would fall into place.

Your sunrise picture is beautiful. There is something so peaceful about that time of day.

I wish you a very happy new year

Dear Renie ~~ A lovely post and I have copied the poem by Edgar Guest. I have a book of his, so will look it up.
Thank you so much for your comments and I am glad you liked "I wrote your name" and truly our friends do live in our hearts. My brother put on my header, "I love my friends who live in my computer" and it iis very true. Have a very happy, healthy 2009 in your lovely woods, Renie. Take care, Love and Hugs, Merle.

If you just go in and EDIT the one that had already published, your comments will still remain. (I am always going back in and editing my post to correct something or to add something else.) Maybe this will help you next time, if there is a next time....and we hope it doesn't happen again! LOL

Anyhow, you have a Happy New Year, Renie! I'll probably sleep right through it, as always! LOL

Happy New Year early. I don't know if I'll be awake either. But since the youngest daughter and her daughter are living with us, and since another daughter and her partner live here in the same town, I think they are getting together so we can play some cards and hopefully we'll all be awake at midnight. Last year I was sitting alone watching the ball drop. Abe tried to stay up, but couldn't make it. LOL I don't know what he'll try this year. Perhaps with others here, he might be able to stay awake. He got his hair cut today, the barber came to the house to cut it, which I thought was very nice of him. Eat some Kung Pao Chicken and Hot Sour Soup for me. I doubt we will be eating much Chinese food, since Abe is suppose to watch his sodium intake, at least until we see the doctors and find out why, since he wasn't before all of this happened to him. So again, Happy, Happy New Year.

Happy New Year, I like your motto. Not to worry about the boo boo, if that is the worst then you are way ahead of the game.
As to staying up until Midnight, I did not either. I figured I already saw the celbration in Sydny so in a way had celebrated already!!

You were one of my blessings from 2008 and look forward to reading you in 2009
